San Clemente is a seaside community located half way between Los Angeles and San Diego at the southern tip of Orange County. Of all the resort towns along the Southern California Coast, San Clemente is among the most historic, as it was once the seaside home to legendary businessmen and politicians, and boasts some of the finest examples of Spanish Colonial architecture in the state.

The city was first settled in the 1920s, when enterprising entrepreneur Ole Hanson and Hamilton Cotton purchased roughly 2,000 acres of beachfront property and dreamed up the perfect neighborhood for Californians who were tired of urban life and needed an escape. That vision was executed and remains, with residents of this coastal community still enjoying an everyday vacation, although the town has ballooned into a city of more than 60,000 residents.

The waters off the shore of San Clemente experience major swells all year long, making it the surfing capital of the world. The picturesque pier, frequent surfing competitions and bevy of media devoted to the sport make the beaches of San Clemente a hot spot for locals and tourists alike. But that doesn’t mean residents can’t enjoy peace and quiet along the water, as there are miles of coastline for locals to enjoy and a myriad of beautiful homes along the water and just a short walk away.

If you think that a vacation experience 365 days a year sounds good, buying a home in San Clemente could be the ideal situation for you. Contact me “Michael Taylor” at 949-363-3141 to learn more about the kinds of houses for sale in this destination community.
